Resort’s top-rated, championship course offers
challenging play amid spectacular Eastern Shore scenery
A golfer’s gem on the Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the River Marsh Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina features a Keith Foster-designed, 18-hole championship course. Rated a prestigious 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play,” the club attracts locals and travelers alike and is known for hosting many regional events, such as University of Maryland’s intercollegiate golf tournament. From golf lessons and a scenic driving range to family offerings and a luxe clubhouse, guests find amenities that cater to all ages and levels of play. In addition, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay is now offering a new Golf Getaway package that includes unlimited golf for one player, all golfing amenities, a 15% pro shop discount, a 15% golf lessons discount and luxurious overnight accommodations.
Designed by renowned architect Keith Foster, the River Marsh Golf Club and course opened in 2002, alongside the alluring Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay resort, which also features a European spa, the full-service River Marsh Marina and several dining options. The 6,801-yard championship course offers two of the Mid-Atlantic region’s most talked about finishing holes. The grand finale of a round of golf, the 17th and 18th holes pair a moderate level of difficulty with spectacular, far-reaching views of the Choptank River.
In addition, the course at River Marsh Golf Club is committed to special environmental standards. "River Marsh Golf Club is a member of Audubon International and is dedicated to minimum-impact maintenance programs,” said Joe Wallman, director of golf at River Marsh Golf Club. "Adhering to these "green" policies, allows the resort to provide top-quality playing conditions, while preserving the Chesapeake Bay watershed's fragile eco-system. This is evident in the wide variety of native flora and fauna encountered during a round of golf."
In an effort to encourage aspiring young golfers, River Marsh Golf Club recently introduced a program called “Family Loop,” which offers families the ability to play holes one through four after 5pm for just $10 per person. The program presents guests with young children the opportunity to play on a championship golf course without the pressure to play at a quick pace or complete nine holes. Additionally, each summer the golf resort hosts a series of summer camps for young golfers ages 7-14, as well as an intensive Player’s Academy for high school and college-bound teens.
Amenities at River Marsh Golf Club include a driving range; golf cart rental, a full-stocked pro shop; men and women’s lounges and locker rooms; shoe rental, golf club rental; group and private clinics for children and adults; and seasonal offers for leisure and group travel. Eagle’s Nest Bar and Grill is open daily, serving snacks, light lunches, non-alcoholic beverages as well as beer, wine and cocktails.
